Certificate in Family Studies Teaching

In Nova Scotia, there are many teachers in our schools delivering Family Studies curriculum with limited formal education in the curriculum area. There are also teachers with a Family Studies background who wish to update or upgrade their skills.  To support the development of these teachers, this program was designed for teachers with a current teaching license and Bachelor of Education (or approved equivalent), who want to develop skills relevant to the curriculum area.

This program was approved by the NS Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for eligibility for a certification increase.  Given that all certification increases are dependent on a teacher's current certification level (among other factors), teachers are advised to contact the Teacher Certification branch of the Department to confirm their eligibility for an increase in their license.  If you have any questions about upgrade requirements, please contact your local board or the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
