Each year, we invite talented high school students like you to join us for an action-packed day of interactive and engaging presentations. The Huggins High School Science Seminar connects passionate science students from across the Maritimes with today's innovative scientists. Established in 1986 by Dr. Charles Huggins, Acadia alumnus, Chancellor Emeritus, and Nobel laureate, the seminar introduces students to advances in science and technology that offer them exciting opportunities for involvement in the future.

This year's seminar included four keynote presentations, a chemistry show, and special team challenge where students used data to connect the dots:

  • Pseudoscience, Dr. Matthew Lukeman [Chemistry]
  • Data Analytics: Confirming Gut Instincts, Discovering New Knowledge, Dr. Danny Silver [Computer Science]
  • Tidal Power: Life in the Fast Lane, Dr. Anna Redden [Biology/Acadia Tidal Energy Institute]
  • Science in Sport: Using Motion Capture for Advanced Sport Analyses, Dr. Scott Landry [Kinesiology]
  • Chemistry Show, Dr. Matthew Lukeman [Chemistry]
